Essential Old Riga and Art Nouveau District Walking Tour

Iveta, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot about Riga today as well as its history and she showed us a lot of different places. Very highly recommended!

We have traveled the world . I loath hyperbole,but I must say that Iveta V is at the top of our list for OUTSTANDING guides : One of our party suffered a fall the day previously , and she could not have been more flexible and accomodating,altering plans on the spot and providing such attentive and rich/informative narrative all along the way. Iveta led us through Old Riga, giving us architectural and political tours of Medieval Riga up to the present day. As she lived through the Soviet occupation of Riga, she had extensive local knowledge of many of the buildings and monuments that had changed hands and evolved over the decades. She is proudly Latvian, which resonates through every facet of her tour and personalizes the landscape. Our time with Iveta was a survey of the many sights in Old Town Riga, and we followed up on many of her suggestions over the next two days. Even if you are not immediately interested in Architecture (or Art Nouveau), Iveta's appreciation is contagious! I highly recommend Iveta and Essential Old Riga.

Our tour with Iveta was wonderful, long, and comprehensive. She took us to top sites and hidden treasures. We even built in a break at her recommended coffee bar. She taught us about her city and its history but also shared Lativian life and culture. We came away with a great understanding of the city and country.
