Enjoy the great opportunity of visiting Riga Old town and impressive Art Nouveau area during one tour. Both areas are protected by UNESCO as part of world heritage and is a must see sights when visting Riga. Walking through the narrow streets of Old town will bring you back to Medieval times, where you can touch the walls of magnificent churches from 13th century and listen to stories how Riga has become an influential trade center in Nordic area. Colourful and expressive facades of Art Nouveau building will immerse you into the turn of 20th century and prosperous life of Riga.

We have traveled the world . I loath hyperbole, but I must say that Iveta V is at the top of our list for OUTSTANDING guides : One of our party suffered a fall the day previously , and she could not have been more flexible and accomodating, altering plans on the spot and providing such attentive and rich/informative narrative all along the way. She generously gave us extra time and insisted on walking us back to our ship unneccesarily . She was kind, extremely pleasant/gracious. She answered questions with facts, opinions, and impressive attention to our interests. I would not hesitate for a second to book with her.
Iveta led us through Old Riga, giving us architectural and political tours of Medieval Riga up to the present day. As she lived through the Soviet occupation of Riga, she had extensive local knowledge of many of the buildings and monuments that had changed hands and evolved over the decades. She is proudly Latvian, which resonates through every facet of her tour and personalizes the landscape. Our time with Iveta was a survey of the many sights in Old Town Riga, and we followed up on many of her suggestions over the next two days. Even if you are not immediately interested in Architecture (or Art Nouveau), Iveta's appreciation is contagious! I highly recommend Iveta and Essential Old Riga.
We couldn't have a greater tour. Iveta is awesome, she knows the history, but she also knows first hand what it was like to be a Latvian through the different times. And she shares it. We loved her and I wish everyone would book her. And not a small detail, her English is beyond proficient! Come with questions, she is ready for you! Don't miss the chance to get a real local with real knowledge answer everything.
I highly recommend Iveta. She was outstanding. Everyone should ask for her. She is very knowledgeable!
Our tour with Iveta was wonderful, long, and comprehensive. She took us to top sites and hidden treasures. We even built in a break at her recommended coffee bar. She taught us about her city and its history but also shared Lativian life and culture. We came away with a great understanding of the city and country. The next time that I am in Riga, I will definitely hire Iveta again.
We will walk to the Art Nouveau district and discover the real treasure of the city - one of the largest and best-preserved collection of Art Nouveau buildings in the world. 10 minutes pleasant walk via green parks of Riga and passing by picturesque city channel we reach Medieval Old Town. Here we walk through the old cobbled streets of Riga downtown and see the most picturesque sites - majestic churches, Blackhead House and Town Hall square, romantic Swedish gate, colorful Three Brothers houses, old Powder Tower, Opera house and square, Freedom monument. Have your cameras ready and make your Instagram friends envious:) I will tell you the history and stories how Riga has become a city like it is today. We will spot black cats on the roof, Christmas trees in the mid of summer, roosters on the churches. Along the route, I will also tell you what kind of experiences you can enjoy later on your own.
