Iveta did an outstanding job with her knowledge and enthusiasm for her city. She has many stories to tell having lived both under the Soviet system and the second independence period. Plus she has a great sense of humor

Riga was always a dynamic city and so it is now! It offers diverse experiences and many of them limited in time - even just for a few hours or days. This is why I created this tour! Spending a day with a local will give you an opportunity to take the best from your day in Riga. I am a certified guide, so the tour includes essential Old Riga and Art Nouveau district walk, and the rest is upon your wishes and current events in the city - like fisherman village walk, organ concert in the church, pop up art exhibition or street food events. Our highlights during this tour: learn about Medieval history, Art Nouveau era, life during soviet regime and regaining the independence, current art, culture and music scene. Join me and discover Riga with a local!

My wife and I are so glad to have found Tours by Locals and for booking with Iveta! This was our first visit to Riga and the city itself certainly does not disappoint. The city is beautiful and learning the history from Iveta was priceless. As I mentioned in all my reviews, you learn and gain so much more information on a private tour as you are not keeping up with 40 other people with different needs and questions. You miss a lot on a ship tour because some people book the tour cannot handle the walking that is involved and that limits your experience. The architecture of Riga is something you must see in your life and we do hope to come back just to see Riga itself. It is memorable. Iveta is a great guide and her friendliness and knowledge just made the day so much richer. You learn so much more about a city and nation by having private time with a local guide and if you are going to spend time in a fantastic city such as this, it is the best way to go. Words cannot fully describe how great our experience in Riga was and Iveta really made the day special for my wife and I. Her recommendation of trying the local beverage Kvass and helping us choose a restaurant for lunch is just a few of the benefits of a private tour. We had lunch on the top floor of a hotel and could see the entire city. Breathtaking! On top of the beauty of Riga itself, Iveta is knowledgeable and you leave the tour having a much better understanding of the city and nation. Truly, Iveta is a fantastic guide and person and made the stop in Riga a memorable one for my wife and I. Highly, Highly recommended!
Wow...what a fantastic tour! Iveta was one of the best tour guides we have ever had. She was so knowledgeable and tailored the tour to our interests. She also spent some extra time with us, to make sure we got to see everything planned. Finally, Iveta is a lovely person and we really enjoyed spending the day with her. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing Riga and learning about the history of Latvia.
Iveta curated such a wonderful day in Riga for us. This was our second visit to city and she immediately got a sense of what we liked and took us off the beaten track in Riga and also hit the highlights as well. Her varied experiences across a number of areas and her passion for Latvian history, culture and cuisine really makes the tour come alive beyond the obvious history. She is right at the top of a list of excellent guides we have had the pleasure of interacting with via tours by locals.
If you can have Iveta show you her city, hire her! Knowledgeable, passionate, and flexible to including our particular interests. You'll Come away knowing more, and, most importantly, smiling.
Amazing guide and it was a lovely day. I can fully recommend Iveta.
- We start our tour in the heart of Riga Old town. - We will walk through old cobbled streets to see the most picturesque sites: majestic churches, Blackhead House and Town Hall Square, romantic Swedish Gate, Three Brothers houses, Powder Tower, Opera House and Square, Freedom Monument. - Then it will be up to you - whether you want to hear legends and stories of the city or go into deeper geopolitical and history discussions. - We will cover the glamorous Art Nouveau district. Will have an insight into decades of soviet regime and footsteps it has left here. - Grab a lunch in a place where locals go. - We will catch art/culture/social events that Riga offers at the time of your visit.
