I have educational background in Biology (thanks to Gerald Durell and Nicolay Drozdov) and in Tourism (thanks to Tur Heyerdahl and Yury Senkevich). Latvia is beautiful with rich history, beautiful nature, safe, tasty and friendly with a nice people. The tourists are different with different interests, so I am flexible to fined the best way to suite guests interests. The educational background - several guide courses and academic degree in Biology (MSc) and Tourism Management (MBA) and near 30 years in Tourism industry helps me to keep my level interesting and professional.

We have been on many tours through Tours By Locals and Armands is one of the best guides we have met. He is personable, knowledgeable and well-organized. He is very fluent in English. He obviously has a passion for the history of Latvia. We went on three of his tours and each one exceeded our expectations. We can highly recommend Armands as a guide in Riga!
This review is NOT for Armands as he substituted a colleague named Janis at the last minute without a lot of notice. Having said that, Janis gave us an absolutely outstanding tour of Riga.
En fantastisk guide, som har en meget stor viden om Rigas historie og arkitektur. Vi kom virkelig rundt i byen, og så alle de vigtige og spændende ting i byen. Vi kunne virkelig bruge turen til inspiration til resten af vores ophold i Riga. Udover at være en dygtig guide er Armands også et meget empatisk og vidende menneske. Kæmpestor anbefaling herfra, hvis I mangler en Guide i Riga.

I will meet at the hotel You are staying or any other suitable place for You in the city, and excursion will starts with area called "quiet Riga". By the way, Riga sometimes is called "small Paris" as well. You will see Riga built in the early 20th century, rich with Art Nouveau buildings with luxurious stucco on the facades of houses. After that, we will drive to one of the first garden cities in Europe, an area called "Mezaparks" (former Kaiserwald). Interesting private villas, the largest open stage in Latvia and Riga Zoo are located there. After we move to another Riga - "Moscow Suburb", where russian sculptor Vera Mukhina was born, and during the Second World War there was a Jewish ghetto, now there is a memorial. During the walking tour you will look around the Old Town full with architectural monuments - Dome cathedral, Blackheads House, Swedish gate e. t. c. , listen to the booming of the narrow streets of Riga, hear legends and plunge into the carefree atmosphere of the capital of Latvia.
