This private day tour covers two different areas in vicinity of Riga. We start with National park in Kemeri located 60km from downtown Riga. Wild scenery of Latvian bogs is mostly hidden from the eys of visitors, except a few places were walking trails are built, one of them in Great Kemeri Bog. If you love photography this is a special place for sunrise and sunset shooting - in this case we adapt tour time accordingly. Kemeri Bog nature trail with a bird observation tower in the middle of the bog is interesting to experience at any time and any season. After walk in Great Kemeri Bog we visit the dazzling center of resort town Jurmala. Located alongside wide sandy beaches, Jurmala has been a popular resort spot for almost two hundred years. It is most recognised by its unique wooden architecture - villas, manors and summer houses. There are more than 4000 wooden buildings, four hundred of which are architectural monuments.
We start our journey with a walk in Great Kemeri Bog and you can choose your walking distance between the Big Circle of 3. 4 km or Small Circle of 1. 4 km. There is some 10 minutes walk from the car parking spot to the starting point of the trail. The trail is made of wooden boards and is easy to walk with opportunity to sit down and relax on the way. Among other bog plants you can spot a unique insectivorous plant sundew to be seen only here. Observing differend birds depends on their migration season. After experiencing wild at heart nature we move to the adjacent resort town Jurmala. Formerly popular with the aristocracy and the wealthier part of the population and nowadays with tourists from all over Europe. You will have a time to take a lunch on your own (reccommendations provided), followed by stroll on the beach and a drive around the residential part of Jūrmala to see some of the stunning wooden architecture. After that we return to Riga, 25km.
