I'm a documentary journalist who loves history, food, and sharing hidden parts of Japan with others. With me, you'll get a deep dive into the country with someone who speaks fluent Japanese and can explain not only the “whats” and “whens” of what we see, but more importantly, the “why”, and the deep connections between Japan of previous centuries and today’s society. Overview of your Osaka tour
This tour will take you on a deep deep dive of Yoshino. Yoshino served as the contested capital of Japan in the 1300's during the Nambokucho period and is the home to spiritual traditions of Shugendo Buddhism. On this tour you will be able to experience local cuisine, get a close-up view of nature that you won't find in Japan's cities, and learn about Shugendo Buddhism at one of Japan's most unique temples.
Your Osaka tour itinerary
We will meet at Yamato-Kamiichi Station from there head to the village of Kawakami to visit a waterfall. After this we will eat at a local restaurant and continue on to Mt. Yoshino to visit Kinpusenji Temple, one of the most important temples of Shugendo Buddhism. We will visit shops where you can buy things connected to the famous cherry blossoms of Yoshino and return you to the station or to your local lodging to make it back in time for dinner.
