Hi, I'm Hiroko. Thank you very much for choosing my tour. I've been working as a licensed guide since 2008. If you have a preference, feel free to ask me before finalizing the tour. -IMPORTANT- I don't take cruise ship passengers based on my business policy. Please find another guide. Thank you for understanding. The Engyoji temple is well-known because it was one of the filming locations of the Hollywood movie "The Last Samurai" with Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe. You may recognize some of the locations where they had acted. Secondly, we will visit Koko-en Garden next to Himeji Castle. The garden is about 3. 5 ha and it is composed of nine different gardens. The highlight, Himeji castle, a national treasure in Japan and a UNESCO site, was completely reopened in March 2015 after 5. 5 years of construction. Please wear socks to remove your shoes at the entrance of Japanese buildings. I can meet you at your hotel lobby (except for Airbnb) in Osaka city. -IMPORTANT- This tour doesn't start from a hotel in Kyoto, train stations, guest houses and cruise ship terminals. Please find another guide. Thank you.

We had the pleasure of spending an unforgettable day in himeji with Hiroko our guide, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. Hiroko’s deep knowledge of Japanese rich history and culture, coupled with her expertise in navigating the Himeji city sites, made our journey smooth and enjoyable. She was incredibly efficient and adaptable, which was especially important as we traveled with two teenage boys. Hiroko guided us thru shrines and the castle —also, introducing us to amazing local food we wouldn’t have found on our own. Her kindness, patience, and genuine passion for her work shone through in every interaction. If you’re looking for a guide who’s not just knowledgeable but truly cares about making your experience special, Hiroko is the one to choose. Highly recommended!
Hiroko was a lovely guide for my day trip out to Hijemi. She is very well organised, with a clear plan on how to get you from A to B in the most efficient way and to let you experience as much as you can on your tour. We had a great time at Himeji Castle, around the grounds and climbing up the main keep. Hiroko provided lots of fascinating details on the Castle's design and architecture, as well as being very obliging with photo opportunities. We then visited Koko-en gardens before a spot of lunch. Loved the curry! Next we caught a bus and ropeway to Mt Shosha, for a lovely quiet visit to Engyoji Temple. Hiroko knew all of the connection times to make the most of the afternoon. We didn't have to rush and it was all very well planned, which I appreciated. Back in Osaka, Hiroko kindly showed me the best connections to the airport and then escorted me back to my hotel. Arrigato Hiroko-san!
Hiroko was AWESOME! She made meeting up super easy! She graciously accommodated my additional travel requests the same day of the tour. I also want to say that her knowledge of the area was extremely extensive.
The tour to Himeji Castle, Enryoji temple and Himeji Castle Gardens was a great day. The only drawback was we were very rushed. We departed Osaka at 8:44am and returned from Himeji at 4:11pm. We could have used at least another hour. This was not Hiroko-san's fault. My wife was slowed by a foot injury and I stop frequently for pictures. I would recommend a longer day for everyone to do Himeji justice.
Go HIROKO! We had so much fun with her! In one day we saw Himeji Castle and made it to the top, then the gardens. The Mt Shosha Ropeway was really unique and we had not done anything like that before. The Jiki-do, Shoshazan Engyoji Temple is a MUST! We recommend Hiroko for any tour!!
We’ll meet at the front lobby of your hotel in Osaka city not as AirBNB and guesthouses. The visiting order below changes based on the day. 1. Take the Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka to Himeji, 2. Engyoji Buddhist temple, the Hollywood movie "The Last Samurai" was filmed. 3. Koko-en Garden (Closed on Dec 29 and 30), 4. Himeji Castle (UNESCO, Closed on Dec 29 and 30), 5. Return to Osaka city by Shinkansen and go to your hotel. This tour will be finished after 17:00. —IMPORTANT— From February through the end of October 2027, the Shoshazan ropeway will be out of service due to major renovation work, so during that time, you will need to hike up and down the mountain on foot. I will provide alternative plans. Reservations can be made for periods other than those mentioned above. The regular plan will apply. Thank you for reading.
