I'll show you Verona - you decide how! Verona is my adopted city, but I know her well, and I'd like nothing better than to show you around. I was born in Norway, and moved permanently to Italy in 2014. However, 2014 was not when I first came to Italy or to Verona. In fact, I lived bang in the center of Verona for a year, working as an English teacher at a school in the province. This was quite a few years before moving here permanently. Now I live a bit outside of the city - marrying an Italian man often means settling down near where his mother lives. Sometimes one just has to adapt to the circumstances! I've been a guide in Verona for a few years now, and I am always excited to show visitors around. Being enthusiastic about Verona is really quite easy: - She's often lively, but rarely chaotic. - She is strangely harmonious despite being home to a mishmash of buildings from different historical periods. - She looks good any time of year, and always has something to offer. - She is filled to the brim with famous historical landmarks, but also hides lesser-known, equally lovely gems. - She offers a multitude of restaurants and bars; some calm and secluded, others bustling with life. - She is charming, and a fun place to be. I have created tours that I would like to go on myself if I were to visit Verona. I hope you find something that appeals to you. However, should you want something different, then I am happy to customize and create something just for you. Just let me know, and we'll work out an itinerary together. Leaving Norway, I left behind a teaching profession, and created a new career for myself in my new home country. As a guide and tour leader I actually get to do what I loved most about teaching: communicating with others about issues that I am passionate about (but don't worry, there will be no exams for you to sit / for me to correct). So, what do I do when I am not showing visitors around Verona? I will very often be spotted knitting in public (in fact, I usually have a knitting project with me in my bag - whenever I have the time, I'll knit a few stitches or a few rounds). Or, if I am home in my office, then I might just be working on designing a website for a small business (unless I am creating a new tour to offer!). Anyway, that's enough about me for now. Let's meet on one of my tours! - Licensed city guide. (Every licensed city guide can conduct tours in any city in Italy by law, but we all specialize in certain cities. I have specialized in Verona). - Licensed tour leader. This means I can also accompany visitors in e.g. restaurants or wine cellars. - Licensed nature / trekking guide. - Certified Travel Designer (from Travel Designer Academy run by Francesca Pozzan) - Sommelier Level 1, FISAR (there is a total of three levels) - Course in Art History from the University of Oslo - Certified teacher from the University of Oslo + many years teaching experience

On January 3, 1117, Verona was devastated by a very large earthquake, leaving many buildings completely destroyed. When the della Scala dynasty came to power in Verona in 1262 they had ample opportunity to put their mark on the city through a number of buildings. We will explore the influence of a single family on Verona. As they made Verona more powerful than either before or after in history, they had to have defense systems in place in order to protect their land, and around Verona there are a number of so-called Scaligeri Castles. One of the most beautiful is found in Soave, and that's where we will go on a visit out of town. Soave is also home to one of the most famous Italian white wines, so a wine tasting is included in this tour. A private car with driver will accompany us around Verona, and also take us to Soave. This is an interactive tour packed with fun experiences. I can't wait to spend a day in Verona and Soave with you!
We'll start our day in the center of Verona where we will see some places connected to the Scaligero family. - Piazza Erbe - Piazza dei Signori - Arche Scaligere - Basilica Sant'Anastasia After 1-2 hourse we will head out of town and to the east of Verona until we reach Soave. NB! We'll go there with private transportation. I will book the transportation, but it has to be paid separately by you upon our arrival back in Verona - by Castelvecchio (another building connected to the Scaligero family) We'll taste wines from the Soave area and see the Scaligero Castle. Its walls still surround the historical center of the town. Soave was voted "the most beautiful village in Italy 2022" - or in Italian: "Borgo dei borghi 2022".
