Ciao! I am pleased to meet you. My name is Antonella and I would love to show you Verona and Lake Garda though my eyes. I am a licensed city and hiking guide and I have a degree in History of Art. I live not far from Verona, by lake Garda, surrounded by nature, with a huge cultural heritage and are rich in history and local traditions. When I was young my passion for traveling brought me to South America, where I spent six months backpacking through different countries. The highlight of that experience was volunteering for a non-profit organization in Peru, where I had the chance to discover how people truly lived there. Since then, whenever I visit a new country or place I look for its "authentic side", the events which determined the history, the folklore and the culinary traditions. Art and Architecture are also very important, as they are the tangible expression of the past and the identity of a land. This is exactly what I'd like to give you during my tours: it's me, living here, with the love for my land and my curiosity for different cultures. I am convinced that every time I say good-bye to my guests I have given them a part of my country, whilst also learning something about theirs. I enjoy working with all people, as well as with families, children and people with disabilities. I'd be more than happy to plan a tailor-made tour for you. Overview of your Verona tour
The "Madonna della Corona" - "Our Lady of the Crown" - is suggestive sanctuary built on a rock face, existing since the 16th century. The place has been for a long time destination for religious pilgrimages and still today it is one of the most important Sanctuaries of the region Veneto. Departure from the Hotel with private driver. I suggest to leave in the morning around 9am to in order to be ready to stat the walk by 10am. After a journey of about 50 minutes we will arrive in Spiazzi where we will start the excursion to the Monte Cimo. It is an easy but interesting hike with a great view over the Sanctuary, the Lessini plateau and the Monte Baldo. We will enter tunnels and trenches dating back to the first world war and we will admire some typical geological aspects of the province of Verona with ammonites embedded in the rocks. At the end of the walk we will descend to the sanctuary. We will have the possibility for a stop at a bar/trattoria after the hike before returning to Verona.
Your Verona tour itinerary
Distance: the length of the route is 3. 5km, positive elevation gain 100m (time needed is about two hours). Type of terrain: 0. 8km of asphalt, 0. 5km of dirt road and 2. 2km of path. We will descend to the sanctuary an asphalted road for about 15 minutes. The visit of the sanctuary requires less than one hour and for returning to the car about 25 minutes are needed (but there is normally also the possibility of a shuttle bus). Estimated time: about 6 hours (3 of them for the hike and the visit of the Sanctuary) including car transfer and the time for drinking or eating something. NB: this tour can start also from lake Garda
