After 25+ years spent with independent, curious travelers I know how to connect deeply and quickly. So let me be your sister in town! I was born and raised in Verona, an adorable, romantic, cozy Italian city and I have seen it changing over time under my eyes! Roman Archaeology is my background and I am listed in the prestigious Rick Steves Italy guidebook. I'm excited about helping you understand a little more of my beloved city: its art, history, landscape and the mood of the Italian "provincia". I am happy to tailor unique experiences for my travelers: if you are happy, I am happy! For me being a tour guide is a way of travelling every day without moving from home! I get emotional when I taste classy wines and I am a Level 1 sommelier. I hope to be able to meet you very soon! I am a local guide of Verona: I do not deliver tours in Milan (only pick up). I am not a driver. I am a Level 1 SOMMELIER and I have a 25+ year experience in tours for wine lovers and wine connoisseurs. I love to take you to boutique cellars, that can widen your Amarone wine knowledge and appreciation. I want you to taste something that is at the same time excellent and not easy to find where you live. So I select 2 wineries chosen among the very many I know, including EXCLUSIVE ONES like Quintarelli or Dal Forno. I usually combine two cellars that are different in philosophy, hospitality and position: I do know how to make you HAPPY. On this tour you learn a lot about the 3 specifics of the Valpolicella wines. -NATIVE varieties -MIX of grapes -and, above all, the DRYING process You will witness the commitment and dedication of the wine people, who you'll get to know and chat with. I make sure that you taste the best of the best Amarone, and at the same time make life- time MEMORIES about our wines, land and people. A very inspirational tour!
Val arranged a spectacular vineyard tour for us, getting us access to two amazing wineries, Quintarelli and Zýmē. The tours were comprehensive and very personal. Our tours ran long but Val never rushed us. She provided great background knowledge on both vineyards and also arranged a beautiful lunch at a local restaurant. We really appreciated all her attention and we would definitely work with her again.
Valeria took us to taste Amarones at the Quintarelli and Zýmē wineries in the Valpolicella Classico region and provided info and history for each winery. In between, she took us to the Trattoria Caprini in Torbe, where first the chefs showed us how they roll out and cut the tagliatelle, and then we lunched on the tagliatelle with three different sauces accompanied by Ripasso. Thank you, Valeria, for doing such a wonderful job organizing a day that was memorable for both Amarone and tagliatelle!
Can't say enough good things about both Valeria and ToursbyLocals. I was looking for a very specific itinerary to do some business research and Valeria was able to arrange a tour that far exceeded my expectations, all the while keeping it relaxed and enjoyable. Valeria arranged a well planned and informative tour of two family vineyards, each distinctly different from the other in how they were managed. Her easy-going and friendly manner made the trip so enjoyable, and Valeria's patience in responding to our never ending questions was admirable. Her knowledge of the area is exceptional. We highly recommend her as a guide for any of her tours and hopefully we can return to enjoy more of her enterprising spirit!
