This is private tour aims to celebrate the Apostole St. Paul, one of the leaders of the first generation of Christians. Our first destination will the Abbey of the "Three Fountains", where according to the ancient Christian tradition the head of St. Paul, after the beheading, bounced three times, giving rise to three sources of water. Here we will visit the churches: SS. Vincenzo and Anastasio, S. Paul at Three Fontains, S. Maria Scala Coeli. After many centuries, the Abbey seems to be set into a surreal atmosphere distant past yet, in thesilence and the green of a mystic place where the time is marked by the tolling of bells. We will conclude our tour with the visit of the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, a special place where is the tomb of the Apostole. The Basilica was first built on the Via Ostiense in 324 by Emperor Constantine the Great, and while it was destroyed and restored over the centuries, it still remains there, enriched by stunning artistic treasures!
Our meeting location will be at the main entrance to the Abbey of the Three Fountains (Via di Acque Salvie, 1) Here we will visit the three churches of SS. Vincenzo and Anastasio, S. Paul at Three Fontains (where the martyrdom of St. Paul took place), S. Maria Scala Coeli (where is the last prison of St. Paul). The visit of the Abbey will also offer you the opportunity to discover the famous delicacies produced by the Trappist monks (like the chocolate and the liqueur made from the leaves of eucalyptus). After the Abbey, by cab or with the metro (10 mins by walk from the Abbey) we will reach the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
