The Roman Castles: Half Day Private Tour W/Private Transportation

In the area of Colli Albani hills of volcanic origin surrounding Rome, charming medieval towns were transformed into castles to protect the noble Roman families from rivals' attacks. In the area we have two beautiful lakes Albano and Nemi, the eyes of Rome. We start our visit from Castel Gandolfo the place of the Pope's summer residence with its beautiful view over the lake. Through Albano, Ariccia, loved by Pope Alessandro VII Chigi, who engaged Bernini for the construction of the church of Assunta built like a ''baroque Pantheon'' and Genzano we reach the lovely Nemi (521 m. asl) famous for wild strawberry and because in the middle of the lake, the Emperor Caligola built two ships for religious ceremonies. The ships were recovered from the lake bed in 1929, but were destroyed by fire in 1944. Through the wonderful Via dei Laghi (where a strange phenomenon takes place……) we go to Frascati, dominated by the spectacular Villa Aldobrandini with its park where we stop to taste the famous DOC wine!
