Welcome to my home town! In Rome, art and beauty are combined with a genuine love of the pleasures of life. As an art historian, I would like to show you the uniqueness of my home city from my point of view. Goethe wrote: "I was born a second time, I was truly resurrected, the day I set foot in Rome". I too, feel like I have finally found myself in this city. And if you allow this place to enter under your skin, you'll also be transformed and you'll never look at the world with the same eyes ever again. Rome is a mirror to better understand ourselves and the world we live in, if we know how to look at it. I have lived in several countries, learning a couple of languages in the process. I have come in touch with different ways of life and I have performed many disparate jobs, some more satisfactory then others. I have been a teacher, a seller, an interpreter. I have worked in museums, art galleries, newspapers and even in an auction house. Never to settle. Never to hear "the call". Always feeling that something was missing. Then, in 2013, I moved to Rome and finally all of my life started to make sense. All of the different jobs, the divergent experiences, the assorted knowledge. . . it all came together as if I was preparing for this place and for this job since forever. I have a very unique point of view that I've been sharing with travelers from all over the word since 2015. I tell the tale of this city, a tale so universal, compelling, adventurous, that it has enchanted visitors and travelers for over two thousand years. A tale told by every stone of this city. It doesn't matter the starting point, this is a journey that we'll take you through legendary archeological sites, breathtaking museums, golden churches, outstanding fountains and ancient obelisks. An adventure that will lead your steps above mythical roads, holy castles, opulent palaces. . . All is a part of the bigger tale called Rome. And we, as well, are part of it and we all have our role to play. We can discover Rome together, at your pace and following your passions and interests. All of my tours can be modified and tailored to your very need. Rome is an open-air museum: its streets, squares and churches are true works of art. In the XVII century, popes and rich patrons commissioned the paintings, architecture and statues that we still admire today: Rome became the center from which a new esthetic developed. The Baroque style with its opulence was the manifestation of this grandiosity. In this tour we follow an itinerary that focuses on the first years of the century (with the paintings of Caravaggio in Rome) up to the birth of a new way of thinking about Art with Bernini, Borromini, Andrea Pozzo, Lanfranco and other protagonists. It will be an enjoyable walk to admire and share. . . yes, after so many years working as a tour guide, I still find myself amazed by so much beauty. The city will unveil painted ceilings that open up to the sky with their angelic hosts; architectural elements that live from natural forms: Shells, trees and leaves become domes, columns and capitals. It is the realm of fantasy that materializes in Art
the itinerary of this tour is flexible and can be modified according to your personal preferences and opening hours. You will visit the following sites: • Piazza Barberini; • Four Fountains crossroad; • Saint Carlino alle 4 Fontane; • Sant'Andrea al Quirinale; • Quirinal Hill; • Trevi Fountain; • Saint Ignatius' church • Piazza della Minerva (Bernini's elephant) • Saint Louis of The French (Caravaggio paintings inside); • Sant'Andrea della Valle • Piazza Navona (fountain of the Four Rivers) • Saint Augustine's church (Caravaggio paintings inside); Please be aware that, to enter the main churches in Rome it is necessary to respect a dress code (shoulders and knees must be covered)
