If Rome is known as the eternal city the reason is that it was built multiple time. The point is that in several important locations for the history of the first Christianity, the medieval Basilicas reused the Roman ancient levels as foundations, and not only that. It happened also that newer churches substituted the older ones, just covering the previous walls. the result? A "lasagna" of different layers of daily life. Come with me to explore the underground of St Clement Basilica, a beautiful medieval structure dated back to the XII, above another medieval one built 600 years before, above roman blocks of the I century A. D. with a shrine dedicated to the God Myrta inside. We will visit the Roman Houses where lived and were buried in the IV century A. D. St John and St Paul, under the Basilica dedicated to the two saints. This tour will offer you a unique opportunity to "descend" the centuries trough the mysterious history of the Christian Rome.
