Hi there! I'm Angelica and I'm from Sicily. I lived in Rome since 2005 and I graduated in History of Art at the University La Sapienza in Rome. I also specialized in Contemporary Art. I'm a licensed tour guide since 2016. Half day Appian way tour with private car and driver
Overview of your Rome tour
On this tour we will walk on the ancient Appian way to discover different buildings annd monuments. Starting from the beautiful church of S. Sebastiano, we will walk and visit the site of the Villa belonging to Emperor Maxentius, Constantine's adversary in the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312 A. D. The archaeological complex consists of three main buildings: the palace, a circus and dynastic mausoleum. Then we will visit the Mausoleum of Caecilia Metella. The tomb was built for the noblewoman Caecilia Metella, as indicated in the large funerary inscription walled on the top of the mausoleum. In the early 14th century, the mausoleum was incorporated into the castle built by the Caetani family (Castrum Caetani) and transformed into the main tower of their fortification. The Castrum Caetani included the church of San Nicola a Capo di Bove, the only evidence of Cistercian Gothic architecture. Are you ready?
