Ciao! My name is Valerio, I'm 36 years old I live in Rome and I'm an archeologist. I graduated in Archaeology in 2015 and in the late 2017 I got a Master Degree in Science of Archeology and Methodology of Archeological Research. I passed my exam to become a tour guide in July 2018, I can legally exercise the profession on national level, and I have also the license as tour leader. I was born and raised in Rome, and I chose to be an archeologist at a young age, fascinated by the work that I saw everytime I went in the center of my city, by the huge buildings thousands of years old and the incredible history behind them. That feeling of pride and luck and fascination, is still the same, even today. With my friends I found the passion of telling the history and the secrets behind the Colosseum, the Imperial Forums, what did we archeologists do on a dig site, and I found them so interested in what I was telling them to make me ask myself: why do I not make this a profession? I mean, I enjoy telling stories, I studied hard to do so, so why not? So I became a Tour Guide, and I enthusiastically lead people who choose me as their guide on the same paths that fascinated me, assured that the feelings that pushed me to study archeology will be felt by those same people I'm leading. Rome has so much to offer, from the Roman to the Dark Ages, Renaissance, Contemporary and Modern times, and I can't wait to tell you, my dear reader, what there's to know about the Eternal City. •Master Degree in Science of Archeology and Methodology of Archeological Research (110/110 cum laude), University of Roma Tre La Sapienza, Rome, Italy (2017) •Graduation in History and Conservation of Artistic and Archeological Patrimony, University of Roma Tre La Sapienza, Rome, Italy (2015) •Tour Guide license earned in Bari, Italy 2018 •Tour Leader license earned in Florence, Italy 2018 •High School Diploma "Liceo Classico Orazio", Rome, Italy (2005-2006) I'm not a driver but I can arrange private transportation if you require

Ostia is the first colony of Rome, founded at the end of the river Tiber's course, approximately during the 9th century B. C. According to tradition, Ostia was founded by Ancus Martius, the fourth king of Rome with a population, at its apex, of 50. 000 people. Today is an archeological park, counting an area of 50 hectars. This Archeological park is second only to the Palatine Hill. I studied this site for years during my specialization studies, I worked and digged here as and archeologist and I had occasion to delve deep into the roman thermal complexes both in theoretical studies and practical, digging studies. Ancient Ostia is really one of the best sites in Italy for archeology and understanding of city life in ancient times. You will see with your own eyes the results of a hundred years long research, archeological excavations, breathtaking mosaics, original roads, tavern, barracks, fountains, wells, latrines, temples and an astounding roman theatre. Believe me: it's a unique experience.
