Take a break from the hustling and bustling of the Eternal City and drive to the fascinating Tuscia, the northernmost provice of Latium, land of charming villages, vast estates owned by ancient noble families and powerful Popes. Head to Caprarola, small village dominated by the imposing Palazzo Farnese, elegant palace with hundreds of frescoed rooms and outstanding gardens, as impressive as the building itself, one of the best example of the Italian Renaissance garden period. Then, after lunch in a local restaurant, visit another Renaissance gem, Villa Lante at Bagnaia, a Mannerist garden of surprise near Viterbo. The Villa Lante is formed by two casini, nearly identical, built by different owners in a period separated by 30 years and amazing gardens, featuring cascades to fountains and dripping grottoes. . . Two marvels just a few kilometers from Rome!
