From 1508, Raphael seemed quite busy working for rich bankers, Popes, and aristocrats. Raphael (Raffaello Sanzio) moved to Rome in this year thanks to the help of the great architect Bramante. The tour starts with one of the most beautiful church in Rome, Santa Maria del Popolo, where we can admire a splendid chapel designed by him, (Cappella Chigi). Intended to be a mausoleum for the rich Banker from Siena Agostino Chigi, the artis designed also the two pyramidal shaped tombs located inside. We will then walk towards the area of Piazza Navona where we will see two unfinished works by Raphael, one is a fresco located in the famous church of Sant'Agostino (this church has also a famous painting by Caravaggio) and the other is tucked inside the Church of Santa Maria della Pace. The church is often closed, but there is a secret way to see it. . .
in this tour many other non Rapael's works of art will be taken into account. Pinturicchio, Caravaggio, Sansovino are just some of the artist we'll come across. It is a splendid 3 hours walk covering the area of Campo Marzio, the heart of Rome. - Santa Maria del Popolo. Cappella Chigi - Sant'Agostino - Santa Maria della Pace
