Ostia Antica Private Tour From Rome

She blends scholarly narrative with photos and brochures to fill in what a street or temple looked like 3000 years ago. The archeological site is huge and worth a 1/2 day to take it all in. Having had a great experience on a previous tour with Francesca in 2022, we were so glad to do another with her this time. Francesca provided help on getting the transportation set up as we had not previously been on the metro in Rome. It was so helpful that she met us at our hotel and escorted us through the 2 trains on the way to Ostia Antica. And she provided such good descriptions of what we were seeing as we walked around the site. Sounds like visiting Ostia Antica is one of her favorite tours and it showed. Francesca provided a great tour of Ostia, talking us through all of the different structures we saw. Though the port city of Rome, it offered a better understanding of what life was like in ancient Rome. With mills & storage sites for grain, places to eat and get a drink, large public bath houses with hot & cold areas, and beautiful tile on the floors of houses, markets and those bath houses, everything there shows how evolved a society they were in comparison to others of the day.

Francesca was a wonderful guide. We would highly recommend her! She was very knowledgable about Ostia Antica and was able to correlate what was found there to other Roman sites we have visited. Her archaeological background added another layer to her ability to provide details about the site. We only had 3 hours at the site, but was able to cover a great deal of it, while still learning a lot of details from Francesca. It is a huge site, so be sure to have your comfortable walking shoes.

Francesca Maria C. shared an amazing morning with me. She even arranged a private car. Her tour exceeded all of my expectations.
