Hi there! I'm Barbara, born and raised in Rome, just a few feet from the Vatican City, I love to travel the world and explore different cultures! With a degree in Architecture and a master degree in Historical Building Restoration, I have been studying architecture and art history for all my life, working for several years to the restoration of some of the most prestigious palaces in Rome. Overview of your Rome tour
We will start this day trip with the amazing Orvieto, in the Umbria region, known for its perfectly preserved medieval historic center, its majestic views and above all for its Duomo, built in the 13th century, one of the best creations of Italian architecture. We will also visit the incredible St. Patrick's Well, an engineering marvel dating back to the 16th century, 62 meters deep, made by two separate helical staircases. Then we will head towards Lake Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake in Europe, surrounded by small typical villages, where we will go to a bio-dynamic, organic farm that produces oil and wine, visiting the vineyards, the ancient cellar and tasting some of their extraordinary and award-winning wines. It's time for an excellent lunch based on local products and a spectacular view over the lake. After lunch we will go to the splendid village of Bolsena, with some free time to wander around and go shopping. A perfect day trip for nature, art, wine and food lovers!
