Hello and welcome! First of all I want to thank you for visiting my homepage! Now let me introduce myself! My name is Maria Rosaria and I have been a tour guide of Rome for more than 20 years! When I was in school I studied Latin, Greek and Art history. My Art history teacher was so passionate that he passed all his love for art along to me. At university I studied languages. My passion for art, archaeology and languages led me to become a professional and inspired tour guide. Here you will find my best suggestions to discover and fall in love with Rome! But remember that together we can customize your experience creating tailored-made tours! For example we can visit the Vatican museums with secret places normally closed to regular public like the Bramante staircase and the Niccoline chapel, a unique experience away from the crowds! We can follow in the footsteps of Peter and Paul in Rome by visiting the Mamertine Prison where they were imprisoned, the little church of Domine Quo Vadis on the Appian Way where Peter met Jesus. But also the Abbey of the Three Fountains where Paul was beheaded, without missing the two major basilicas of Saint Peter and Saint Paul Outside the Walls where the two saints, patrons of Rome, are buried. We can visit the archaeological park of the Colosseum with a Full Experience ticket allowing us to see the arena level, the secret passage of the Emperors and the hidden gems of the Palatine hill and of the Roman forum! To have a deep and widespread knowledge of Roman life and habits I recommend a visit to Ostia antica, the city port of Rome, the little Pompei near Rome! Strolling around the remnants of the ancient city we can learn about shops, baths, mills, and homes. Or the archaeological museum of Palazzo Massimo to see frescoes, mosaics, bronze and marble statues like the Boxer at rest and the Discobolus that were decorating public and private buildings in ancient Rome. Rome was made great by Renaissance and Baroque famous artists such as Raphael, Michelangelo, Bernini, Caravaggio. They left their masterpieces in private collections such as those of Borghese gallery or Doria Pamphili gallery. We can arrange a private tour of the Colonna gallery to discover not only the art masterpieces, but also Princess Isabella's private apartment! So, it’s time to make a choice and meet you in Rome! If my calendar appears unavailable, please contact me anyway. I can organize private transportation by private car and driver. I provide pick-up and drop-off at the hotel or port via the driver. I’ll meet you at the meeting point. For easy communication on the day of the tour, I suggest downloading WhatsApp on your smartphone.

The Appian way is a crucial link between Rome and the south of Italy with an immense historical and cultural significance. It still preserved part of the original paving and around it are evocative remains of old constructions: tombs, funeral monuments, suburban villas. We will see one of the best-preserved parts of the Aurelian Walls and discover the fascinating world of the catacombs: underground Christian cemeteries consisting of several miles of tunnels where we can better understand the early Christian symbols still preserved. We will also see the ruins of the villa of the emperor Maxentius dated back to the fourth century with the best preserved race track and the dynastic tomb. Eventually, we will visit the tomb of Cecilia Metella, an aristocratic Roman young woman, in the Middle Ages was transformed into the fortress of the Caetani family. In a peaceful landscape surrounded by history and nature, we'll learn aspects of Roman civilization closely linked to life in the ancient world
Walking along the Via Appia Antica is a refreshing change from the city. In ancient Roman times, burials within the walls of the city were forbidden. While pagan Romans were cremated, Christians preferred to be buried. Highlights: - Aurelian Walls 271-277 A. D. - Saint Sebastian Gate - Catacombs of St. Callixtus or St. Sebastian - The Ancient Appian Way with the original paving - Villa of Maxentius and The Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella (closed on Mondays), if they are closed will see the Roman Aqueducts The itinerary can be customized according to your requests -Please write me if there are people with mobility problems and if you use or need a wheelchair. ATTENTION: -Inside the catacombs themselves we will be joined by the internal guides due to regulations that require management of the tours to be entrusted and supervised only by internal staff. - On Wednesday instead of the Catacombs of Saint Callisto we will visit the Catacombs of Santa Domitilla.
