A journey through 3,000 years of history on the coast near Rome
Overview of your Rome tour
We discover the mysterious Etruscan people, who greatly influenced Ancient Roman culture and the world, with your official licensed guide. Together, we explore the stunning Necropolis of Monterozzi, with its 22 underground painted tomb chambers carved into rock, dating back to the 7th century BC. The beautiful, colorful frescoes inside reveal scenes of religious and mythological life. We then walk through the center of Tarquinia and stop for lunch in a typical local restaurant. The visit continues at the National Archaeological Museum in Palazzo Vitelleschi, where we admire frescoes removed from the tombs and carefully preserved, along with other Etruscan artefacts, including the famous Winged Horses relief, a symbol of Tarquinia. Alternatively, we can also make a short stop at the Etruscan site of Cerveteri, another UNESCO World Heritage site, instead of visiting the museum in Tarquinia.
