My name is Rosanna and I was born and raised in Rome. Since my childhood I love art, history and travel, so I took tourism at high school. Then I moved to London, Paris and Seville to learn the languages and the culture and traditions of those countries. Back home I started my career as tour manager and I passed the exam issued by the Provincia di Roma to become an official Tourist Guide. I have been working as a guide in Rome for 15 years and I love to show to Italians and foreign visitors the Eternal City. I work with couples, families, groups and I am very glad to tell stories and make people familiar with the Italian art, culture, history and food. Every day is different thank to my guests enthusiasm because they want to see, hear and feel the astonishing art and history of this unique City, and discover the hidden corners. I can offer tailor-made tours in Rome with golf cars, van, bicycles and I would love to show you the surrounding villages such as Tivoli, Ostia Antica and the Roman Castles. I also speak French and Spanish and I am very flexible, so ask for me and let's organize a visit. The Appian Way, once the grandest and fastest road of its time, was the ancient equivalent of a modern highway! Today, it still retains parts of its original stone pavement, surrounded by captivating remnants of the past, including tombs, funerary monuments, and suburban villas. We’ll explore one of the most well-preserved sections of the Aurelian Walls and marvel at the towering Roman aqueducts, which once supplied water to the city from nearby springs. Our journey will take us underground into the fascinating world of the catacombs—extensive networks of tunnels used as cemeteries. We’ll visit a Christian catacomb and decode the symbols of early Christian art and iconography. Amid a serene landscape rich with history and nature, we’ll uncover aspects of Roman civilization, such as defense strategies, burial practices, road construction, and the marvels of Roman engineering., We'll penetrate and truly experience Ancient Rome as true local!
Walking along the Via Appia Antica is a refreshing change from the city. In ancient Roman times, no one was allowed to be buried within the walls of the city. While pagan Romans were into cremation, Christians preferred to be buried. Highlights: - Aurelian Walls 271-277 A. D. - Catacombs of St. Callixtus - The Ancient Appian Way - The Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella (outside) - Roman Aqueducts Note: the itinerary may change due to traffic in the city. ATTENTION: -Inside the catacombs themselves we will be joined by the internal guides due to regulations that require management of the tours to be entrusted and supervised only by internal staff. - On Wednesday instead of the Catacombs of Saint Callisto we will visit the Catacombs of Santa Domitilla. Note: the itinerary may change due to traffic in the city. -Please bring a copy of your passport (hard copy or photo on your phone) tickets are nominal and you must show a copy of your documents.
