Sylvia is so knowledgeable and this tour was so enlightening for us. We learned a great deal about the history of Rome’s Jewish community and culture and how it related to Roman and Italian society. Also, the Campo de Fiori area is charming and full of shops and restaurants to explore after your tour, so try to allow yourself extra time to wander. Lots of information and insight from Sylvia, who has a wonderful personality and sense of humor. Brava!
Very knowledgeable about the old Jewish community. Because of a Jewish holiday, many shops and restaurants closed which deterred from the tour. Sylvia was professional and pleasant.
Silvia is very knowledgeable about Rome, its sites and its history. She designed a customized tour of major sites in Rome for me and showed me everything I wanted to see. She is a lovely person. Her English is excellent. It is difficult for me to walk on uneven surfaces and to go up and down steps without a railing. She knows how to show me the sites while walking on even surfaces. I highly recommend her.
Not only is Silvia nice and fun, but she is like an encyclopedia of Roman history. I had exactly 25 hours to spend in Rome, and my 5-hour tour with Sylvia — after a red eye — was exhilarating and educational. I asked for a special concentration on the Jewish ghetto, and her knowledge of the Jewish community's history in Rome was unbelievable. I learned so, so much, and I can't wait to come back to Rome!
from via Campo dè Fiori we will stroll along the small alleys of the old Jewish ghetto: - Campo dè Fiori: were the Talmud was burnt few years before teh Ghetto was established - Largo Argentina: discover the connection in between the Romans and the Jews in the past - Piazza delle tartarughe: the ghetto was built right next to noble palaces of Roman families, plenty of stories and legends - Via del portico di Ottavia: what is left of the ghetto - La sinagoga: the great Synagogue of Rome in between history and architecture ( exterior) No specific dress code is required, if at the end of the tour you would like to enter the Great Synagogue bring along an ID or passport otherwise you will not be allowed to enter.
