Discover how the daily life was for the Jewish along the centuries, how they lived under the Roman Empire, how they were forced in the Ghetto by the popes and be immerse in the atmosphere of this culture carried on by the Roman families that survived to the Holocaust. Tese are the attractions included in the tour: - Piazza Mattei and the amazing Turtle Fountain: listen the story of the Mattei family and of the Turtles Fountain, one of the quarter's most symbolic landmarks; - Via del Portico d'Ottavia and the ancient Marcello Theatre: stroll along the street and admire the Roman ruins still preserved, their reuse along the centuries, the beginning of the Ghetto and the daily life until the tragic day when the entire community was deported to Auswitz, stop where it happened. From here cross the Tiber river, and listen to its legends. - Visit Santa Maria in Trastevere, a beautiful medieval church and discover breathtaking mosaics. The Transtevere Qarter is well known for bars and bars and Pizza Restaurants, I will give you the best tips to enjoy them. A drink or a snack, a perfect end of the tour.
