Cross toward the river to admire the evocative ruins of Ponte Rotto, Rome’s “Broken Bridge,” before traversing the historic Fabricius Bridge to reach Tiber Island, a place of myth and healing. Walk over the Cestius Bridge into vibrant Trastevere, exploring hidden corners like Piazza in Piscinula, where medieval Rome whispers through narrow lanes. Conclude at the luminous St. Mary in Trastevere, one of the city’s oldest basilicas, celebrated for its golden mosaics and warm, welcoming square.
