Although almost five hundred years have passed since the birth of Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, this artist, angel and demon, continues to be talked about as if he were still among us. Together we will go to see his places, we will discover what made him a restless man to the point of ferocity and compassionate and intense, and an artist like few others the world will ever see again. We will tiptoe in front of his art, in the original churches for which they were commissioned, admiring masterpieces that speak of blood and love, of holiness and prostitution. Caravaggio was a brilliant artist, who through the use of flaming rays of light, executed paintings that completely changed the way of representing subjects in the history of art. By visiting these wonders you can certainly say that you have seen something incomparable.
ATTENTION: The Church of Santa Maria del Popolo is closed for restoration work until November 2024, so we will visit the Pantheon from inside -Church of Sant'Agostino: Caravaggio, The Madonna of the Pilgrims -Church of San Luigi dei Francesi: Caravaggio, St Matthew and the Angel, The Conversion of St Matthew, The Martyrdom of St Matthew -Piazza Navona -Via del Governo Vecchio -Church of Santa Maria in Vallicella: Rubens, The Madonna, Saints Gregory, Papia and Maurus, Saints Flavia Domitilla, Nereus, Achilleus. This is a suggested itinerary, let me know what you would like to see and do and I will customize the tour accordingly In historical monuments and Roman churches a dress code is always required for both men and women shoulders and knees covered. Shorts and skirts are fine, but below the knees. For the convenience of the tour, please do not bring large items (such as small suitcases, large bags, long umbrellas)
