Overview of your Rome tour

Housed in the wonderful villa built by Flaminio Ponzio for the cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew of the Pope Paul V, the collection is one of the best selection of 1500 and 1600 paintings you may find in Europe in a relatively small museum : Peter Paul Rubens, Sandro Botticelli, Raffaello Santi (Raphael), Tiziano Vecellio (Titian), Domenichino, Caravaggio and many others are here. The gallery displays also four Bernini’s masterpieces, dazzling baroque sculptures, collection of ancient marble statues and sarcophagi and finally the world famous "Pauline" Bonaparte-Borghese made by Canova. We had a great tour with guide Fabio at the Borghese Gallery. He was a professional art historian who could impart the special characteristics of the artists, in both paintings and sculpture, ie. Bernini and Caravaggio. We gained new insights into the artists lives and struggles as well as the influences they brought to artists who followed. Fabio was a great communicator, a warm, personable guide and expert. We would recommend him for anyone wanting a meaningful tour of the Borghese Gallery.

Fabio gave us a tour of the Borghese Gallery. He is informative, patient and kind. We had our 16 year old daughter and 76 year old mother with us, and he's a good guide for all ages. His knowledge of the Borghese family and Italian history is deep and rich. We left with a higher appreciation of Italian art and culture.

Fabio was very knowledgeable. I've found a guide to be very helpful in visiting galleries such as the Borghese. They can provide insights and explanations that really bring the art work to life. Our daughter, who is an art history buff, could ask questions of Fabio which he could readily answer. I'd recommend Fabio for a visit to the gallery.
