Visit the most amazing Roman Gallery, founded in early 1600 by Scipione Borghese, a passionate patron of arts. His aim was to collect everything that could cause astonishment and admiration. Well, he succeeded! Today Borghese welcomes Raphael's and Titian's masterpieces, Caravaggio's paintings, and Bernini's incredibile sculptures. Seeing Bernini's Daphne turning into a tree or his Pluto pressing the marble flesh of Proserpina is something you will never forget… Together with the inviting marble mattress of Canova's Venice. We'll compare Classical art to Roman Baroque and you'll understand what made Roman artistic "brand". Ancient Gods will accompany us in every single room, on painted ceilings and 2, 000 year old sculptures. You'll see Roman mosaics depicting famous gladiators, and so many other gems. Keep in mind that the Gallery limits the number of people inside. So be sure to book your spot on time. I'll be more then happy to unveil you the secrets of my favourite Roman Art Gallery.
- The Gallery offers two levels - The First Floor dedicated to sculptures mainly and the Pinacoteca where we'll enjoy wonderful paintings. We are given two hours by the rules of the Gallery. - In some rooms they might be benches to sit. After the visit you can relax in a caffetteria or have a stroll in the Villa Borghese Park. *Please keep in mind that only very small bags are allowed inside. Everything that is slightly bigger will have to be left in the checkroom. * Please note this tour can be customized. Use the 'message guide' button to contact me for a customized tour.
