I am an Expat from the United States, I have been blessed to live and guide through this beautiful country called Italy for the past 22 years. My first love and city mastered was the Eternal City of Rome, where I have lived and taught an English Master's program at UET. The University of European Tourism is located outside the Papal walls of Vatican City. I enjoyed teaching and being around the students very much, their youth is contagious. As I've traveled around the entire country, I've discovered the beauty in each region, as well as the wine and culinary wonders. My guiding experience is throughout Italy's Regions, as a National Driver Guide. My areas of expertise include the hillside medieval towns that are nestled in-between the Apennine Mountains. During my tours, I explain the history of Italy and make certain that you have the opportunity to experience all of the local monuments, as well as the iconic art and historical culture. My guiding is based on the TRUE ITALIAN EXPERIENCE. The Slow Food Movement, which they call the zero kilometer touring started in Italy because of how the food is prepared and my tours will take you to taste it all, fresh cheese, the award winning wines and truffle pasta. . . not to mention the limoncello in Sorrento after a day in Pompei. I have been blessed with a gift when it comes to guiding children and the disabled throughout this country. Nothing is a challenge for me and I enjoy seeing each of these places with people who thought they would never get there, life is meant to be lived! Our recent tour with Caron through toursbylocals.com was fantastic!!! This was our first trip to Europe with our daughters, 8 and 11 years old, and this cooking class was perfect! Caron's love for Rome is contagious. She has a great personality and showed us many places in Rome that we had not seen on a previous visit. Our twelve-year-old granddaughter said that the pizza making and gelato making class was her favorite part of our trip to Rome. We highly recommend this tour with Caron!
My family and I spent 2 wonderful days with Caron in and around Rome. We visited Villa d'Este and afterwards ate a lovely lunch at a local restaurant. The next day, we made pizzas and gelato. The kids enjoyed learning the secrets to make the best pizza and gelato. She's knowledgeable, professional and friendly. I would highly recommend her.
