A single place that tells the entire history of Rome: from the I century A. D. until the present time, buildings of different types, decorated in different ways, built one of the top of the other. A few other monuments in Rome can show the layers of almost twenty centuries of urban history!
- Two large buildings datable to the I century A. D. , separeted by a narrow alley; walk along the alley. - Mithraeum, an area for the celebration of the Persian cult of Mithras, developed in Rome between the II century and the V century A. D. The Mithraem was built in the III century A. C. in part of one of the two roman buildings; we will stop in front of the celebrating hall. - Christian Basilica built at the end of the IV century A. D. on the top of the two roman buildings in honour of St. Clement, the third Pope after St. Peter (88-97 A. D. ); we will pass through it. - Decorations of the Basilica built in the IV century with frescoes dated back in the IX and XI century A. D. ; we will stop in front of the most famous ones. - Visit of the new Basilica built in the XII century on the top of the one built in the IV century; visit inside. It's not possible to visit the Basilica on Sunday morning because of the Holy Mass. From Monday to Saturday the Basilica is closed at lunch time
