I'm a licenzed tour leader who has been doing this work for more than ten years all over Sicily. I attended the University where I studied history, archeology, art and folk traditions. The birth of the Kingdom of Sicily in 1130 AD by the Normans marked the beginning of a great period in which the structure of the city we see today was formed, along with the most important monuments such as the Cathedral and the Royal Palace. The Normans were also the initiators of a new artistic style for new buildings known today as Arab-Norman; in it, Arab and Byzantine influences contributed to creating a unique style that can only be seen in Palermo.
