Join me to know more about the rich history of my homeland through a panoramic tour of Palermo. You will realize that Palermo was not only dominated but also loved by its innumerable rulers which endowed it with great monuments, scenic squares and important theatres. However you cannot come to Palermo without seeing Monreale, a small medieval town perched on Mount Caputo that overlooks the beautiful gulf of the Sicilian capital. In Monreale King William II founded the magnificent royal Cathedral, with its 6340 square metres of gold mosaics. Once inside the Cathedral you are surrounded by dazzling light reflected from the golden mosaics that tell the story of the Old and New Testaments. But what is most striking is that it was completed in just 15 years! After enjoying the atmosphere of this medieval town we drive back to Palermo to visit the lovely Cathedral that was in competition with that in Monreale and this rivalry is even expressed in the different beauty of the two churches
