Tour of the city of Messina and visit of the Regional Museum

Have you ever heard that the city of Messina, thanks to its strategic position, became a cultural and economic center? Many artisans and merchants moved to the city of the Strait to enjoy its tax and political benefits. Caravaggio also arrived in Messina and, in 1609, shortly before his death, he created his last and famous artworks: 'The Resurrection of Lazarus' and 'The Adoration of the Sheds'. Join me in this tour to visit of a selection of his master pieces. Visiting the museum also works to be a means that allows the travellers to understand the glories of such an important past which was unfortunately canceled by the earthquake of 1908.
Your Messina tour itinerary
Pick up from your hotel or accommodation. During the visit we will visit the extreme north of the city and Sicily called "Capo Peloro", a few miles from Italy. Then, we will move to the Regional Museum to admire the two paintings of Caravaggio as well as other pieces from churches and palaces destroyed by the 1908 earthquake. We will then move to the terrace of Christ the King to enjoy the view of the Strait and the natural harbour in the shape of a scythe. Finally we will reach Piazza Duomo to admire the Bell Tower and the Cathedral. Drop off at your hotel or accommodation. * This itinerary can be customized to suit your needs or preferences.
