Day Trip from Cagliari to discover Oristano area and Sinis Peninsula

If you love nature, art, history and culture, this is the tour perfect for you! We start with the romanesque Santa Giusta Basilica, decorated with the marble columns taken from Tharros, then we reach the early Christian chrch of San Giovanni, located few minutes from Tharros. We walk along the beautiful Sinis peninsula and we visit the town of Tharros, founded on the VIII century B. C. by the Phoenicians. It achieved its maximum splendour under the Roman dominion. Walk with me in the ancient roads, enjoy the story of the old city and admire the landscape. I will tell you how the Ancient Romans lived and show you this amazing site. The site is famous for the production of the "bottarga", a kind of caviar obtained from its roe. Along the cape, do what locals like and taste the "bottarga spaghetti". Yumm! After lunch, we visit the The Museum of Cabras, that displays the famous sculptures of Monte Prama, where I will tell you some of the mysteries about them.

• In about one hour drive, we reach the Cathedral of Santa Giusta and we will visit it for about 30 minutes. • Then we reach the Sinis Peninsula, where we visit the oldest church inSardinia, the Church of San Giovanni . • We reach on foot, walking 15 minutes along the beach of San Giovanni, the excavations of Tharros, where we are going to have an hour visit. • We walk back, stopping for lunch in one of the kiosks along the beach. • We drive 15 minutes to reach the Archaeological Museum of Cabras, where the visit lasts about one hour. • In an hour and a half we will be back to Cagliari.
