Overview of your Cagliari tour

Welcome to Cagliari. During this amazing half day walking tour you will see all the most popular sites and experience the best parts of the city with me as your local guide. This tour is a really different highlight if you love to look behind the curtain and feel the local everyday life. You will walk through the lively Marina district, a mixed living and commercial area, visit the medieval district "Castello" which is still surrounded by the 14th century walls. One of the must see places is the National Archaeological Museum which houses a very interesting collection of Sardinian prehistorical and historical artefacts (from 6, 000 BCE to 1, 300 CE)

My wife and I enjoyed our 3-hour walking tour of Cagliari in an afternoon with Gabriele, who regaled us with tons of interesting information about the pre-historic as well as recent history of Sardegna and Cagliari. There was not enough time for us to absorb it all - the information and the views. Perhaps the tour could include a sit-down at a local cafe and casual talk to foster a more relaxed cultural exchange between the host and the visitors. Overall, I highly recommend this tour with Gabriele.

My husband and I had only a limited time to visit Cagliari, and wanted a thorough introduction to not only the city, but to Sardinia as a whole. After looking at the tours on other sites, I chose to book through Tours by Locals, and Gabriela in particular. I cannot say enough good things about this choice! Gabriela walked us through 700+ years of island history, all the while pointing out interesting landmarks, wonderful places to eat, and even discussing modern Italian cinema! A 5-star tour experience.

Gabriela is a superb guide. She showed us the core area of Cagliari. She knows the streets; the neighborhoods; the sites of interest to tourists; and, the stories behind the sites. She was as adept talking about Phoenicians and she was about current development controversies. Walking with her, and listening to her explanations of what we were seeing was almost as good as traveling by time machine. The telling was so good that one could almost smell and hear the people and activities she described.
