Day trip from Cagliari to Unesco site Su Nuraxi and Giara Natural Park

The UNESCO site Su Nuraxi, is amazing for its massive structure looking like a medieval castle and its village around looking like a maze. Walk with me in the labyrinth of the village and climb the castle, feeling just like an ancient Sardinian. In the nearby Casa Zapata, a noble Spanish mansion of the XVI century built on the top of a nuraghe, I will show you some handicrafts so you can realize how life was difficult at the times. In the small Ethnographic Museum downstairs, I will explain you how my ancestors used to live in this region. We will then have a typical lunch with the products of the lands of our nice host. Unforgettable lunch, unforgettable food! Buon appetito! After such a big meal, why don't you join me for a walk amid the cork trees in the Giara basaltic plateau nearby? If we are lucky (very often I am) along the water ponds where they drink from, we could see the wild horses. An amazing experience!

• Drive about 50 minutes to Barumini passing along the Campidano area with its vineyards, olive crops and wheat fields, then through the Marmilla area with its beautiful hills. In the village of Villamar, we stop briefly in front of a beautiful mural. • We then reach the UNESCO Site Su Nuraxi. The visit is split in two: the first part is an easy walking in the archaeological site, the second is climbing the massive building using the Bronze age steps and corridors. A unique experience! The visit will last about one hour. • We then drive 5 minutes to reach Casa Zapata , and we visit this amazing site for about 40 minutes. We're going to have a typical Sardinian lunch to a local restaurant: prepare for this delicious meal prepared with local products. Buon appetito! • After a 30 minutes drive, we reach the Giara Natural Park, and we have a very light walk to see if we can watch the wild horses at a short distance. • We then drive back to Cagliari.
