Overview of your Jerusalem tour

In this tour I'll take you up onto the platform built by King Herod, the site of the First and Second Jewish Temples, destroyed by the Babylonians in 586BCE and by the Romans under Titus in 70CE. We will explore the site pointing out the architecture and history and how the different pieces connect to the Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions. We will cover the buildings built in the early Arab period, the el-Aqsa mosque, the third holiest site to Islam after Mecca and Medina, the stunning Dome of the Rock, a shrine to commemorate where Mohammed ascended to heaven on his Night Journey and the enigmatic Dome of the Chain. We will have a panoramic view of the Mount of Olives important to Christianity as the place where Jesus ascended to Heaven.

I originally had three tours booked with Schmuel, but due to a family emergency we only had one day. As a result we managed to combine the Temple Mount Tour with The City of David Tour in to one day. Schmuel was very knowledgeable, put up with some of my daft questions and I learned a great deal about the history of The Temple Mount. There is a jumble of archaeology on the Temple Mount which Schmuel seemed to enjoy exploring as much as I did. We also spent time exploring The Cardo and The Western Wall.

This tour was exactly what we were looking for! We wanted a tour focused primarily on the Temple Mount, not a general Old City Tour that made a stop there. Mr.Browns was genial, informative, well versed in his topic, the pace was perfect, he was attentive to our questions and provided interesting history and enjoyable "stories". We couldn't have asked for a better experience...notwithstanding some nasty weather.

Shmuel was a thoughtful, helpful and caring guide for our tour of the Dome of the Rock and Temple Mount. Or flight was delayed so we had to shift the tour by several hours. Shmuel was very accommodating and made sure we could see all the sights despite our several hour late arrival. He was able to describe many interesting architectural details about the outside of the Dome of the Rock and other nearby structures. The tour was a bit more architectural than some might prefer which is why I gave 4 stars.
