As a licensed, local private tour guide based in Jerusalem Israel I try to create private Jerusalem tours and Israel tours that include all the must see sites but leaves time to go off the beaten track to match your interests and travel pace. Australian born , I have made my home in Jerusalem for the past 30 years and enjoy sharing travel experiences with visitors to this complex and interesting place. Each day is an opportunity to create your own experience . I work with individuals, couples, families with kids, sometimes 3 generation families touring together. I've toured with 7 & 9 year olds as well as 96 & 94 year olds and I love to make every day of touring a little different - a change of pace, a change in the order of the sites visited , a day following a theme that grows from a question someone asked the day before. Let's face it you have come for a holiday so want to enjoy but it's not hard to see that there is a lot of layers to this place. Zel was phenomenal. He was very accommodating for our family and all of our young kids that we had in tow. We packed in so much and covered a lot of ground in the few hours that we were together. He knew just when to go everywhere and had almost the entire Temple Mount to ourselves when we arrived. All of the history that we saw just walking around was mind boggling. He was extremely knowledgeable and we learned so much about both the history of the area and the modern disputes.

We hit the jackpot with Zel! He's incredibly knowledgeable and knows all the out-of-the-way spots. We are an interfaith couple, so he tailored our tour to the key Christian and Jewish spots. Zel is an Australian who has lived in Israel for 30 years - he speaks Hebrew and of course his English is perfect, plus he has an interesting "insider/outsider" take on the country. He gave us many good recommendations for our next 3 days. I don't think we could've found a better way to start our visit to Jerusalem!

Your Jerusalem tour itinerary

Your tour of Jerusalem Old City can start with us meeting at your hotel or near the Jaffa Gate entrance to the Old City . If possible I like to begin tours with a big panoramic view from the Tower of David Museum rooftop lookout situated near Jaffa gate. The City is spread below us in all its grandeur and we can begin to mark out our exploration based on my understandings and your interests the four historic Quarters of the Old City : Christian , Armenian , Jewish and Muslim . Your comprehensive tour can include chosen "must see "highlights : the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Western Wall , the Temple Mount ( if open ) , Mount Zion , Gethsemane and the Mount of Olives , historic neighborhoods of the New City , Old and New City markets and eateries and much more. It's your tour so it does end up being custom designed . This is a walking tour but transport by taxis can be arranged to maximize the experience.
