My name is Ayelet, I was born and raised in Jerusalem, the most interesting and beautiful city.
Although I have lived here all my life, I look at my city each day as if it was the first time, and the more I study about the city, the more I feel its magic and complexity.
Until I was ten I lived in an old apartment from the Ottoman era; the bathroom was outside the apartment, and in the courtyard there was still an antique water pump. Only after I grew up I realized that I was kind of living in another century.
But this is what fascinates me in Jerusalem: when I stroll in the streets I'm not walking only through space, but also through time and it's great, so many historical periods greet me every day.
I am an avid reader, so I see Jerusalem not only through my eyes but also through the eyes of writers such as Mark Twain and his hilarious view on the land of Israel, Selma Lagerlöf who wrote about the exciting and spiritual journey to Jerusalem, and other writers and travelers who visited us.
I'm trying to understand this place through the eyes of religious people, secular ones, people with different political views and diffrent religion, it helps me guide with an objective point of view as much as I can; I believe in the right of Jews, Muslims, Christians, and all to live here peacefully.
I'm a Jew, and my husband is a Christian (it's very rare here), we have two grown-up children. We love to hike in nature and to learn about the plants of Israel
and of course we love the great food here, if you'll join me you can taste some of it too.
Hope to see you,
Ayelet
