This is a full day Dead Sea and Judean Desert adventure, with the focus being a visit to the dramatic Masada plateau, site of the final stand of the Jewish rebels against the Roman empire in the year 66 ad, where you will visit King Herod's palace, see the rebel fortifications and hear the stories of the final days of Masada. After the tour of Masada, which will include an introductory film and a visit to the interactive Masada museum, we'll stop at one of the Dead Sea beaches for an unforgettable swim in the lowest (430 meters below sea level!) saltiest body of water on earth.
- Pickup at your Jerusalem Hotel 8:30 am - Stop on the drive to the Jordan / Dead Sea valley, visit observation point overlooking the ancient city of Jericho. - Visit to Masada - Introductory film - Tour of the Mountain - Herod's palace, rebel fortifications, hear stories of the site. - Visit the interactive museum in the visitor center. - Lunch at Masada - Swim in the Dead Sea or visit to Kumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. - Drive back to Jerusalem, drop off at your hotel, estimated time of arrival - 6 pm. Please note - I can create a customized tour for you if your group includes more than 4 people, or you would like for this tour to start in Tel Aviv, Haifa or other locations in Israel.
