Shalom, I'm Daniel and I look forward to introducing you to Israel. I am a local - I live in Jerusalem, I was born in Haifa and my parents and all four grandparents lived in this country before me. But an added ingredient that may help me to help you to understand and appreciate Israel is that I have an international perspective. I have visited the USA many times as well as many other parts of the world. I have children (and now grandchildren) living in sunny California and rainy London as well as here near Tel Aviv. I was educated in London and Cambridge and I lived and taught and worked in the UK for decades. So I speak fluent British English - the King's English! Formerly a copyright lawyer, a teacher and a university lecturer in English literature - my Cambridge doctoral degree is on Gulliver's Travels - I am now delighted to have qualified as a tour guide, licensed by the Israel Ministry of Tourism. On the tour guide course we learned so many topics: lots of geography, geology, theology, archaeology, religious and secular history, scripture, current affairs, economics, and many other kinds of facts. But the facts are just the starting point. In my studies and my work with tourists I have learned that the best guides love this unique and complex country, welcome our visitors, appreciate why you have come and what you are seeking, and have insight and enthusiasm as well as knowledge to share. That's me! Having taught for many years I hope I can help you learn something about the history and the many cultures of this fascinating holy land. But even more important - I am going to make sure that your tour will be a memorable, spiritual, meaningful and fun experience. Israeli Tour Guide Licence 22,379 Cambridge University PhD and MA degrees Qualified UK Teacher I do not have the special vehicle and licence required in Israel to drive tourists. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for you to engage a duly licensed driver and car. I do not work on the Sabbath nor on Jewish holidays.

Like the travellers and pilgrims of the last 3000 years we all bring dreams and expectations to the Holy City, long regarded as the centre of the world. And I now live here! The reality of the Old City of Jerusalem never ceases to surprise. I love introducing travellers to our unique collection of holy places and amazing people. It is thrilling to take visitors to the Citadel which (relaunched after a $50 million makeover) tells the story of this unique city using both ancient ruins and 21st century multimedia. Everyone loves the colourful market, the restored Roman cardo, and the awesome views. From the top of the dome of the Hurva Synagogue we can see not only outwards over the rooftops but also inwards, gaining an insight into the traditions of prayer and Torah study. At the Western Wall you can (whatever your faith) leave a letter for the Almighty - thousands do every day. This city is full of time capsules, glimpses of ancient civilisations and past empires, and prophecies of future possibilities.
On our tour we will see: - Jaffa Gate - Christchurch and its wonderful models - Tower of David Jerusalem Museum - Phasael Tower view - Shuk (market) - Roman Cardo - Hurva Synagogue - Western Wall - Alexander Nevsky Church - Church of the Holy Sepulchre - Time permitting: Machane Yehuda Shuk - Thinkers Distillery (optional, if time permits). Please note this tour can be customized. Use the 'message guide' button to contact me for a customized tour.

All on foot unless there is time at the end to go to Machane Yehuda Market which would be by one or two taxis
