From the GPO and Ireland's long fight for independence to Merrion Sq and Dublin's Georgian glory, from the Book of Kells and Ireland's Golden Age to Christchurch Cathedral and Dublin's Gothic Age, Dublin has so much to offer. I am an experienced, energetic, passionate, enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide of Dublin City and have given over a hundred and fifty tours of Dublin to thousands of visitors. As well as being a certified tour guide, I have B. A. Int. in Medieval Irish and Celtic Studies, so I have the legends and the facts that guide books will never have. As we walk the streets, I'll recount the stories and the histories, sing the songs, recite the poems, deliver the jokes, and tell you the banter of this charming city. You'll be hard-pressed to find anyone who can match my styles and be passionate & emotional, dramatic & theatrical, interactive and funny and epic(!) all on the same tour! So join me on a stroll through Dublin's alleys, trod the same cobbled streets as Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift and Bram Stoker, smell the hops from the Guinness Brewery, view the riverscape from Ha'Penny Bridge, and just live the atmosphere of this historic, dramatic and fascinating city. You couldn't ask for a better or more authentic guide for Dublin. Garvan is a wealth of Irish historical knowledge and we learned so much about what it means to be Irish through the lens of the countries troubled past. The Book of Kels and the Library were amazing to see and learn about, well worth the stop. We highly recommend Garvan.
Garvin took us around the city centre helping us appreciate the history and mythology of Ireland. He has a degree in medieval studies making him eminently qualified not to mention he is a raconteur! We walked through the Temple Bar area known for restaurants and night life showing us some the street art that gives this area a distinctive character. We also visited the National Gallery to see highlights from the collection. After the tour he even helped us navigate through Dublin to additional sites. A++
Garvan delivered a "Home Run" with this tour! He is very knowledgeable and has a wonderful sense of humor. He was attentive to each one of us, got to know us, and tailored the tour to our interests as he learned more about us. He was very entertaining!!! He made our day in Dublin very special. Loved loved loved this tour. We had a wonderful time on this tour and the weather was not perfect (but we like rain). Garvan was exceptional. He really knew the history of Dublin and of Ireland. He's personable and loves this city. He took us to some great places. We even met up with a friend living in the city and she was able to tag along for a little bit. It was alot of fun watching them talk about Dublin together. We highly recommend Garvan for a walking tour.
Garvan was great at giving us just the right amount of history behind the places we visited. We learned a lot about Ireland, and he did an especially good job of relating his stories to the places we visited. His enthusiasm was contagious and we found this to be an excellent tour. Pacing was just right.
Garvan was an excellent guide. He chose the places to visit based on our interests and was very knowledgeable. We really enjoyed hearing about his personal views as well.
