Newgrange and Boyne Valley - Private day trip

This tour covers some fabulous countryside and thousands of years of history. You would be picked up from your hotel and driven north of Dublin to the UNESCO world heritage site of Newgrange. This neolithic burial tomb from 3200 bc is the premier historical site in Ireland. You can take a tour of the tomb and actually go inside the passage grave itself to the burial chamber. Simply excellent. Then you would proceed to the ancient (6th century) monastic site of Monasterboice. Not much visited by tour groups but a site that contains a lot of what you expect to see in Ireland. A magnificent Round Tower and two of the finest examples of carved Celtic stone crosses to be found in Ireland. A compact site that punches above it's weight. From there you would drive to The Hill of Slane. Associated with St Patrick it affords spectacular views of the Boyne Valley. Finally one cannot come to Ireland without seeing a castle and Trim Castle is the finest. Tour the grounds and learn about the castle and castle life.
