Cead míle fáilte romhat! "A hundred thousand welcomes to you!" This walking tour reconciles your thirst for knowledge with your physical thirst, as well as reconciling Dublin's British heritage (Trinity College, Dublin Castle) with its Irish one (GPO, the pubs). How this tour works: Sights: This 4hr tour takes you through some of the most important sights in Dublin. The stories and histories connected with them, explained by your guide, will transport you through the years, passions, pains and legacies of the Irish people. Pints: Would you rather stand still in the cold for 10 minutes while I explain how Northern Ireland came about, or prefer to be seated in a warm pub, beer in hand? Some big topics, e. g. Irish Language, Celtic Tiger, are best explained when you're nice and comfortable, so we'll pop into a (great) pub every 20-40mins. Besides the history lessons, you'll learn about beer, the Irish pub, as well as partake in / witness an activity that the Irish are renowned for - conversation.
I'm happy to customise each tour, in order to give you exactly the kind of tour content and itinerary you want. On 'Sights and Pints' we normally call in on at least three pubs long the way. As regards the locations visited, the basic elements of my tour are listed below. Dublin Castle Dublin City Hall Christchurch Cathedral - the only Cathedral outside of Scandinavia built by the Vikings Temple Bar - Dublin's lively entertainment district The Project Arts Centre - where supergroup U2 were discovered by Paul McGuinness The Irish Film Institute The Rock and Roll Museum and Wall of Fame The Molly Malone Statue Trinity College The Dáil (pron. "Daw-il") - home of the Irish Parliament The National Museum - Kildare Street Dublin's Mansion House - the first purpose-built Mayoral Residence in Europe, and the city's oldest free-standing House The Dawson Lounge - Smallest Pub in Ireland!
