👋 Hi! I’m Jim Dempsey. You’ve found a tour that interests you. Now comes the important question: who do you want to spend that day with? ☘ There will be history and stories—and, if we are doing it properly, plenty of fun and craic along the way. That is how I want a private tour to feel: relaxed, personal and shaped around you, not like a lecture or rehearsed script. đŸŽ™ïž I’m a full-time professional guide with more than 20 years’ experience across Dublin and Ireland. Before we begin, I take time to understand your interests, knowledge and preferred pace. Bring your questions and curiosity, and I’ll make Ireland’s people, places and stories interesting, understandable and relevant to you. ⭐ Guests describe me as joyful, funny, deeply knowledgeable and a natural storyteller. Parents often mention how successfully I engage their teenagers. Many guests say that by the end, they feel more like friends than clients. 🎓 I hold both the original Dublin City & Environs and Ireland’s National Tour Guide qualifications. I have taught the National Tour Guide programme six times and have trained and mentored many guides who built successful careers of their own. 🚘 For driving tours, I hold a full SPSV limousine licence and use a new seven-passenger Ford Tourneo Custom. When you book with me, I am the person who communicates with you, meets you, guides you and drives you throughout—there is no handover between guide and driver. ✹ If one of my tours is what you are looking for, you can book it with confidence. If it is almost right but you would like to change the pace, emphasis or itinerary—or combine several days—send me a message. I’ll help you shape the experience that is right for you.

Overview of your Dublin tour

In Ireland, storytelling isn’t just tradition—it’s a way of life. Tales shift and evolve, shaped by time and the people who tell them. As an expert in oral storytelling, I don’t just share Dublin’s history—I bring it to life. And on this tour, it’s not just about listening—you’ll be part of the story too. 🏛 Trinity College – Walk in the footsteps of scholars and rebels. đŸș National Museum & Gallery – See Ireland’s past through art and artifacts. 🏰 Dublin Castle – A place of power, secrets, and rebellion. â›Ș Christchurch & St. Patrick’s Cathedral – Echoes of medieval faith and folklore. 📜 The Old Parliament – The rise and fall of an empire. Beyond the landmarks, we’ll explore hidden laneways and forgotten tales—like the doomed voyage of The Ouzel or Lady Guinness’ "Bayno", a playground for Dublin’s poor. This isn’t just about hearing stories—it’s about sharing them. Bring your own tales, your questions, your curiosity. 📍 Book now and be part of Dublin’s living history! 🍀✹

We hired Jim to introduce us to Dublin, and it was one of the best decisions we made. He was a wonderful, engaging guide who brought the history of Ireland to life through fascinating stories and insights. His knowledge was incredible, and he tailored the tour to our interests, making sure we experienced exactly what we were hoping for. Jim also took the time to help us plan the rest of our trip, sharing recommendations for places, hidden gems, and must-see sights throughout Ireland. His advice helped us make the most of our travels and discover some truly memorable locations. If you're looking for a knowledgeable, personable guide who genuinely wants you to have the best possible experience in Ireland, I can't recommend Jim highly enough. I would hire him again in a heartbeat!

Jim is terrific. We saw the major sites in Dublin. But his main focus was what is the Irish culture, and how is it different from other countries? How was Ireland protected from outside influences for centuries? And how did it take off since the 1990s ? Jim tells it beautifully. We were also surprised that the National Museum has some real treasures.

Jim D. exceeded our expectations. He met us at our hotel; the adventure began before we stepped onto the sidewalk. Jim thoughtfully quizzed us, myself and my 21 year old son, about what we wanted from the tour. Then he delivered. Jim’s breadth and depth of knowledge regarding Dublin and Ireland fed a commentary that lasted four provocative hours. Being a Dublin native and having lived on this planet for slightly more than five decades, he shared deep insight into the past and present challenges faced by Dublin and how the Irish continue resolve those challenges in a uniquely Irish way. Jim communicates clearly, and tells a coherent story. 👍👍 Thank you Jim. We hope to see you down the road.

We loved this tour and learned a lot! Although we didn’t get to all of the sites, the tour was informative, interesting and entertaining and Jim was a fantastic guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him, plus he was kind enough to provide some information for a later part of our trip. Thank you, Jim!
