Great tour pleasure to be with, went to places I’d never been. Great lunch together and really felt a close bond not just someone leading a tour.

I've lived in Dublin city centre and suburbs all my life, and the history of Dublin and it's stories are endlessly surprising, even to someone who lives here. Since I've started with ToursByLocals I've found it to be a lot of fun, and very rewarding to see visitors really engage with the real Dublin! These are the streets of James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Bono, Sinead O'Connor, Arthur Guinness., (and some baddies too, like Henry the Eighth and a couple of Cromwells..) . . I take little detours when asked (which is a LOT), and I like to make sure that my friends who book onto my tours have the best of times! As a professional musician and producer I've also got some unusual insights into some of the secrets of this world, with the ocassional behind the scenes tale or two. I also have a very special relationship with Dublin's Ha'Penny Bridge, as I personally brokered the deal to make Fender Guitars in honour of Gary Moore and Phil Lynott from the bridge itself! Dublin is an old city, but it's not a museum, it's also a brand new city - this is the same throughout all of Ireland - and I enjoy showing visitors how these worlds live side by side, so you can have fun while being amazed at the same time! This tour is super interesting, and a lot of fun! It's a mix of driving and walking - from your Cruise Ship, airport or hotel, where you can see the very heart of historical Dublin up close, including Trinity College, The GPO (scene of the 1916 Rebellion, or as we call it, 'The Rising'), Stephen's Green, the iconic River Liffey with it's beautiful Ha'Penny Bridge, Grafton Street, Stephen's Green, Christchurch Cathedral, St Patrick's Cathedral, and some lovely sneaky shopping and coffee areas. This tour can be extended if you'd like to include Guinness Storehouse, Jameson Distillery, Book Of Kells or something else of your choice - just ask and I can adjust this for you. Please note re Kilmainham Jail, this can sometimes be added, but I can never guarantee this due to nature of KJ ticketing method (it's complicated!), but I will try if you ask. Please Note : I don't act as a guide inside any of the ticketed destinations.
Great tour pleasure to be with, went to places I’d never been. Great lunch together and really felt a close bond not just someone leading a tour.
Completely enjoyed our tour with Dermot. He was knowledgeable and friendly. We happened to be on the same day as a parade which was a traffic challenge but he navigated us around the city which got us to see more back roads in addition to the main locations. We highly recommend him.
This was the best tour we have ever taken. We are well travelled and have had many private tours. Dermot was amazing. We went to so many places in Dublin that are only known by a local. We covered everything we wanted to see and Dermot knew just where to park. Dermot has an expert and inside knowledge about the music scene in Dublin. He is a true gentleman and has wonderful stories to tell as he was born in Dublin. A perfect tour!
We had the best day seeing the highlights of Dublin! Guide Dermot Lambert was wonderful. He’s a great storyteller, fun, easygoing - yet kept us on track in order to maximize our day ashore. In addition to his Top Ten, Dermot arranged for tickets to the Book of Kells and the Guinness Storehouse. We were all super pleased with our tour.
This was an amazing tour by an absolutely amazing tour guide. Dermot met us on time at the port and gave us the best tour of Dublin we could have hoped for. His knowledge and love of his city and country were evident in the way he told his stories . Having a private tour we were able to customize what we wanted to see and do in Dublin which being in a larger group you are unable to do. If we could give more than five stars, we would. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see Dublin at their pace and be customized to your interests. Ask for Dermot. You won’t regret it. Thank you
Dermot is a great guide, very personable and knowledgeable. We felt as if we had a good feel for Dublin.
1 - Along the River Liffey through Dublin's City Centre and visit O'Connell Street and The GPO (General Post Office), scene of the 1916 Easter Rebellion, bullet stained statue of O'Connell himself! 2 - The iconic Ha'Penny Bridge - VERY special personal connection 3 - Temple Bar, a creative heart of Dublin with plenty of music venues, recording studios 4 - Dublin Castle - 900 years! 5 - Christchurch Cathedral - Vikings! 6 - St Patrick's Cathedral 7 - Grafton Street shopping area 8 - Stephen's Green 9 - The 'Doors Of Dublin'. 10 - Trinity College - Sunshine or rain, Trinity is a magical place to take in! I can extend this tour to include Guinness Storehouse, Jameson, Book Of Kells or other - it usually adds on about another 1.5 hours or so per add-on, all with Ticket prices approx €48 euro per person, so please just ask if you'd like this, it's no problem at all. Kilmainham Jail tickets are harder to access, but I can try. Please Note : I don't act as a guide inside any of the ticketed destinations.
