Hi, My name is Mydie and I am a born and bred Dubliner. I've lived here all my life and know the city and surrounding counties like the back of my hand. Dublin is situated in a great location right beside the sea and only a few miles from beautiful countryside which I know very well from many years of going there with my now grown up 3 children. I have always had a love of the outdoors and the history of different places. That of course with my love for people and chatting with them made me decide to become a tour guide 10 years ago so I would never have to work again. I can adjust any tour to your liking but here is a general view of some of my tours: 1. Wicklow tour. Pick up at hotel/cruise ship, drive through south Dublin City and out along scenic South Coast stopping along the way. Choose between visiting historic wicklow jail or the world famous Powerscourt Gardens. Then on to the 6th century monastic site of Glendelough in the valley of 2 lakes after exploring its back on the road over the hauntingly beautiful Sally's gap and Glenmacnaas waterfall to Dublin. 2. Pick up at hotel/cruise ship. Drive to trim castle in Co. Meath after exploring its onto Hill of Tara and the neolithic tombs at Newgrange. Then passing the site of the famous Battle of the Boyne its onto the monastic site of Monasterboice and then drive back to Dublin. 3. Walking tour of Dublin. Pick up at hotel/cruise ship. We will walk through the city of Dublin, passing so many famous and not so famous places like trinity college, St Patricks cathedral, Dublin Castle to name a few. Along the way we will stop to eat fish and chips at Irelands oldest chipper, homemade ice-cream at Murphys and finish of at a pub for a well deserved Guinness or Irish whiskey. Hear the ghost stories that are associated with its walls and corridors. It dates from the 11th century and was enlarged and restored at the time of Georgian splendour. En route, marvel at pretty villages like Malahide, parks like St Anne's, and beaches like Portmarnock. Take an walk from Howth's Summit cliff to the village to enjoy breath-taking views of Dublin bay and the Wicklow mountains. In the fishermen's harbor of Howth, you'll have the chance to see seals swimming and begging for food from the boats!
Mydie provided exactly the Dublin experience we were hoping for. With only a limited amount of time during a layover, she created the perfect balance of history, local culture, beautiful sights, and a relaxed pace. Her knowledge was exceptional, but it was her warmth, flexibility, and genuine passion for Dublin that made the day memorable. We left feeling like we had experienced the city rather than simply checked off attractions. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful day with Mydie as our tour guide. She is very knowledgeable and kept us intrigued for the whole tour. Our group of four varied in ages from grandchild to grand parents. Mydie was very flexible and we never felt pressured to race. Thank you!
Mydie was wonderful and really knew the areas we visited and was very informative about all things “ Ireland “. We were lucky to have her as our guide for the day and highly recommend her!
We had a lovely experience with Mydie as our guide. She was not only our driver but also very knowledgeable about Ireland and the different areas we passed. She shared insights and history that made the drive engaging and enjoyable. Unfortunately, due to a prior scheduling conflict, we weren’t able to take the full tour with her, and our time inside Malahide Castle was spent with a much larger group of about 35 people. This limited our ability to hear the castle guide and have the intimate experience we had hoped for. That said, Mydie was flexible, gracious, and gave us the freedom to enjoy the castle at our own pace. Overall, she was a wonderful guide and we highly recommend her
Mydie was punctual, collaborative, and attentive to our unique requests. She is very knowledgable about the history of Ireland and also current life style and events. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with her visiting Malahide Castle, Howth, and Dublin with her as our private guide.
Fabulous tour of Dublin and Howth. Mydie was prompt , friendly and knowledgable. She went out of her way to find out what we wanted to see and planned our day accordingly. We had hoped to spend most of the day in Malahide and Howth, however, the weather was not great, so we asked if we could cut the scheduled itinerary short and tour some of the areas in downtown Dublin that we hadn't been able to visit the day before. She quickly agreed that would be a great idea and we had a wonderful day in spite of the weather. I would highly recommend Mydie when in the Dublin area.
Our itinerary will be as follows; - Pick up at hotel/ accommodation. - Drive to the castle and gardens of Malahide, which takes about 40 minutes. - We will spend roughly an hour at the castle. Please note: an on-site guide at the castle will show you around. - Afterwards, it takes around 50 minutes to travel from Malahide to the fishing village of Howth. - You can eat fish and chips there (included in the tour price). We will spend approximately an hour in Howth. - At the end of the day it takes us roughly 40 minutes to get back to Dublin. Please note this tour can be customised.
