I am originally from Tipperary in the south of Ireland- you may be familiar with the pre-war song "It's a long way to Tipperary". I can sing it for you as well if you come on tour with me. What is the story behind the long way to Tipperary? The original pre-war song was inspired by the homesickness experienced by Irish expatriates, who came to work in England in great numbers from the Victorian period onwards. In it, the narrator Paddy's girlfriend Molly threatens to marry another suitor called 'Mike Malone' instead, if he does not come home soon. My family of origin is steeped in hurling which is native to Ireland and one of the fastest field games in the world and Irish sport and I can tell you all about that as well on my tours. I provide walking tour guiding service to people visiting Dublin and Ireland, be they tourists from overseas or Irish people themselves who want to learn more about the history of Dublin and Ireland. I am available for private walking tours and as a guide or whatever mode of transport you decide to use. I love tour guiding and very proud to be able to tell people about the story of Ireland and Dublin. I am very passionate about meeting people and telling them the story of Ireland, through anecdotes/poetry and song. I love singing Irish ballad songs whilst on my tour which also tells you the history of our country in another emotional way. I can tailor my tours to whatever you want and by tailoring my tours, it gives you the traveller to visit wherever you want. It is your holiday and your time away and you should spend that time in the best way possible for yourselves. I live here in Dublin with my wife Mary in a very historical area called Kilmainham. You may have heard of Kilmainham Gaol because of its history and association with the Irish 1916 rising. Our War memorial gardens are very close by and well worth a visit, which I can plan for you also, if you like. I can arrange for you to have the best time here in Ireland and I look forward to hearing from you. Go raibh maith agat which is thank you in our Gaelic language and also "Cead mile failte romhat" which is a thousand welcomes to you on your visit to our capital city and our country of the Emerald Isle. Bachelor of Arts Degree in Modern History Tour Guide Training with Pat Liddy Walking Tours Company Dublin Masters in Management for the Community and Voluntary Sector which included Public Speaking Modules. With regard to private transport, I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver. Some places in Dublin have their own private tour guides but I can advise on these places as relevant and appropriate.

"Welcome everyone to Dublin's Musical Miscellany Walking Tour. Today we're going to discover Dublin through its songs. Every city has monuments and museums, but Dublin has something extra—it sings its history. Over the next three hours we'll walk through the streets that inspired ballads, rebel songs, love songs and folk classics. We'll meet revolutionaries and rogues, street sellers and rock stars. We'll hear about rebellion, romance, hardship and humour. The songs we'll sing today are more than entertainment. They are the memory of the city itself. Through them we'll meet some of Dublin's most famous characters—real and imagined—and discover how music has helped Dubliners tell their stories for generations. So whether you're a singer or just a listener, join in where you can, and let's explore Dublin one song at a time."
Introduction Grace Sean Treacy James Connolly Molly Malone Temple Bar Wall of Fame Phil Lynott Luke Kelly/Raglan Road Grafton Street Finale Walking time between stops 50 Total ~180 mins One Final Thought The strongest narrative arc is: Revolution → Working-Class Dublin → Street Life → Folk Revival → Rock Music → Poetry & Love → Celebration of Dublin That gives the tour a coherent story rather than simply a collection of songs. Visitors will leave feeling they have heard the soundtrack of Dublin's history as they walked through the city itself.
