My name is Nick and I am a certified, licensed Tour Guide. I was born and raised on the island of Rhodes. Being passionate about history and exploration, I graduated from the History and Archaeology Department of the University of Athens, and I continued my postgraduate studies, obtaining a Masters and a PhD in Byzantine and Medieval Archaeology and Art History. I worked as an archaeologist for the Ministry of Culture of Greece for about 10 years, organizing museum exhibitions and excavating ancient sites. My passion for travelling and meeting interesting people led me to obtain my guiding license. For the last 10 years I have been working as a full time Tour Guide, mainly on my island, Rhodes. Its natural beauty, but also its history, the monuments, its customs and traditions, its food and wine, these are just some of the aspects of this island that I am in love with. It would be my pleasure to introduce you to the magic of this beautiful place. Being a local, apart from the museums and sites, I can say that I know every aspect of my island's unique heritage. From the ancient Greeks to the Romans, from the Knights of Jerusalem to the Ottomans, from the Jewish Synagogue to the most humble Christian chapel. All those years, I have been trying to turn my tours into experiences. I like to walk inside ruins, enter places not often visited, avoiding crowds and long lines. In my tours I promise that I will do my best to meet your expectations. I am extremely flexible, and all tours can be tailor made according to your particular interest and your pace. Just feel free to ask and you will get your answers! * PhD degree in Byzantine Archaeology and History of art, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. * Master's degree in Byzantine Archaeology and History of art, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. * Bachelor degree in Archaeology and History of art, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. * Official Tourist Guide License.

The medieval town of Rhodes is A UNESCO site, and it's the largest medieval town of Europe still fully inhabited. The island's capital dates from 408 B. C. E. , and has been continuously inhabited ever since. The fortification was built by the Knights of Saint John (1309-1522), is one of the best preserved in the world. The walled city is a pedestrian zone, with picturesque cobblestones and beautiful narrow streets and alleys. A walk through the city will lead us to the Grand Master's Palace, a huge, very impressive monument, where original ancient and medieval artifacts are exhibited. The street of the Knights is one of the most important medieval streets in Europe, and leads to the medieval Hospital of the Knights, a monument that since 1914 is the Archaeological Museum pf Rhodes. Exhibits such as the head of Helios and the statuette of Venus of Rhodes are exhibited in the museum. The tour can be customized according to guest's requests and personal interest.
