Bonjour and Welcome to Paris! My name is Pierre-yves. Originally from central France and with numerous stints abroad, I am at heart a Parisian and have called Paris home for over 20 years. I am a national-licensed guide offering private tours either walking or with professional car service in English, Spanish and French. Versailles Palace symbolizes the rise and fall of the French monarchy and today remains one of the most majestic sites to visit in all of France. We will embark on an exploration of this fascinating period as I share stories of the glorious lives and tragic destinies of Versailles' most famous residents. Inside the palace, we will visit the Royal Chapel, King Louis XIV's apartments and bedchambers, the iconic Hall of Mirrors, Queen Marie-Antoinette's apartment and bedchamber, before escaping to the gardens where we will view impressive perspectives and uncover hidden groves and fountains. After a lunch break, we'll visit Le Grand Trianon followed by Marie Antoinette's private estate including the charming Petit Trianon, secret gardens and rustic hamlet & farm. Our group of 7 had a great time on our day trip to Versailles and Marie Antoinette's village learning so much more about the culture and politics of that period of French history. Pierre is a great guide, he did really well interacting with the 3 tween kids.We did 2 tours with him and both were fun and informative.
Pierre-Yves was a great tour guide for a full day trip to Versailles. He was a great conversationalist as we drove from Montmartre to Versailles and was full of great information as we toured the palace, the gardens and the Marie Antoinette areas. Because he kept our small group of 3 ahead of the larger tour groups, we were able to spend more time in areas that were the most interesting to us. He even did us a great service by giving us a tour of central Paris before dropping us off near Notre Dame late in the afternoon. I would highly recommend Pierre-Yves as a guide and he was a great addition to our trip to Versailles.
Two of us wanted to visit the Potager du Roi and see the fountains play at Versailles. Previously, we had both been to the palace and one had seen the Trianons. So we both wanted to do those two things. Pierre-Yves was professional, delightful, full of great stories and interesting little facts that made the day great. We had lunch in the town as a break and then he drove us to the Trianons. The whole day was delightful and would highly recommend Pierre-Yves for any tour he gives!
Pierre-yves was a terrific guide in every respect - always on time, knowledgeable, easy to understand and a pleasure to talk to both personally and professionally. Most importantly he understood our interests and desires and adjusted our tours accordingly. He also went out of his way to accommodate our physical limitations and stamina which were tested at times by heat and exertion. His car was super clean and comfortable. In short, he is caring and considerate and you cannot ask for anything more.
What a GREAT tour Pierre-yves did for the four of us! He was prompt in picking us at our hotel in a very clean car. We spent the day touring Versailles, the Big / Small Trianon and Marie Antoinette cottage ! His French history knowledge gave us an insight of life in the 1700s. He provided extensive descriptions of each of all the locations. The day was broken up in causal timing so we did not feel rush and were able to appreciate every aspect. In between we took time at local crepe eatery. He was GREAT!
